Visual Studio Add-in Installation Issue

Mar 15, 2010 at 8:19 AM

Hi.  I am trying to get NPanday installed per the instructions here.  While I am able to install the Maven plugin successfully, I am having trouble installing the add-in for Visual Studio 2008.  When I execute

mvn -e npanday.plugin:maven-vsinstaller-plugin:1.1:install

I get the following:

Hi,

You can do either of the following:

a.1) Download the recommended repository found here: http://npanday.codeplex.com/releases/view/31843
a.2) Then unpack it on your local repository found in C:\Documents and Settings\User\.m2\repository\
a.3) Execute the command mvn -e npanday.plugin:maven-vsinstaller-plugin:1.1:install

or

b.1) Add the following profile to your settings.xml:
<profile>
<activation>
<activeByDefault>true</activeByDefault>
</activation>
<repositories>
<repository>
<releases>
<enabled>false</enabled>
</releases>
<snapshots>
<enabled>false</enabled>
</snapshots>
<id>http://repo.npanday.org/archiva/repository/npanday-releases/</id>
<url>http://repo.npanday.org/archiva/repository/npanday-releases/</url>
</repository>
</repositories>
</profile>

b.2) Execute the command mvn -e npanday.plugin:maven-vsinstaller-plugin:1.1:install

Thanks!

The repository we distribute is a _remote_ repository. It needs to be
configured as a <repository> and <pluginRepository> in settings.xml,
not copied directly into your local repo.

Isn't there an installation page with instructions?

apadilla,

I am doing the A steps that you have outlined, which is what the instruction pages says, and it is not working.  There appears to be an issue at the server:

...
Downloading: http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/npanday/model/NPanday.Model.Pom/1.1/NPanday.Model.Pom-1.1-4b435f4d76e2f0e6.dl
l
[INFO] Unable to find resource 'npanday.model:NPanday.Model.Pom:library:4b435f4d76e2f0e6:1.1' in repository central (htt
p://repo1.maven.org/maven2)
...

I am new to Maven, and thus don't have a settings.xml.  I borrowed one from the Java guys and tried out the B steps, and got the same error as before.

Wendy,

The installation page says to download the repository package, expand, and copy it into my local repository.

Thanks for the replies.  But again, what am I doing wrong?

Take a look at the known issues for the release: http://npanday.codeplex.com/releases/view/31843

Sorry for the inconvenience.
